CTI-Maritec was glad to have presented to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Surveyors during their monthly Surveyor Technical Sharing Session (STSS) in February 2024.
This time, our session explored one of the latest regulations, 'FuelEU Maritime', put in place by the European Union in efforts towards greener shipping. Fuel EU Maritime is scheduled to come into force in 2025.
Alvin Lee from the Centre of Excellence at CTI-Maritec touched on the basics of Greenhouse Gas Intensity as well as the core principles of the regulation, such as its aim, methodology, and the mechanisms that quantify penalties to be paid.
The Q&A session that followed was exciting with seasoned marine surveyors scrutinizing the regulation and creating several interesting scenarios for discussion.
CTI-Maritec thanks Singapore MPA for the invitation, and we hope it was as impactful and beneficial to the team as it was to us!
In a similar initiative towards knowledge-sharing with like-minded industry players, our Vice President, John Rendi, presented the same topic at the Xinde Marine Forum in December 2023 in Shanghai. A key focus area of his presentation was aimed at uncovering the nuances and details of this advanced decarbonisation initiative. Additionally, he also shared his valued insights on his compliance recommendations alongside various calculation scenarios in the cases of several different alternative fuels. Overall, shedding light on the “serviceability” of initiatives such as FuelEU Maritime is key towards ensuring it’s success.
CTI-Maritec is uniquely equipped to provide qualified consultancy services and customised solutions to kick-start and sustain your decarbonisation journey. We understand your ESG goals and will support them through our range of services and solutions.
